“I was struck by an underinsured motorist in Cleveland in summer 2024. While I was being treated in the hospital for my injuries my wife was panic stricken as she had no idea where to turn. Cleveland police were not helpful and didn’t arrive on the scene until well after everyone had left, they seemingly had very little interest in holding the motorist accountable. Ken Knabe’s name came up as being an experienced bike attorney. Most of us avid cyclists in the area have heard his name before, but only now do I fully understand the reasons behind his legendary status in the bike community. Ken jumped in right away as soon as my wife called while I was still in the hospital and not able to address anything on my own. Once I had surgery and was released from the hospital, insurance companies did not want to pay. Ken was able to step in and get them to pay, got my medical bills covered, property damage (bike and equipment) replaced, and a little extra on top. I highly recommend Knabe law firm if you’re victimized in an accident and left with a bike related injury. Additionally , make sure you have uninsured motorist coverage on your insurance policy!”

“In July 2023 while cycling on a road I was hit by car a driven by an older gentleman. Fortunately he stopped as well as other drivers to provide assistance. I was transported by ambulance with life threatening injuries. I was hospitalized for a week before being released home.
After numerous unsuccessful attempts to contact the driver’s car insurance, and having talked with our insurance, my husband and I decided we did not have the knowledge or patience to navigate the quagmire of legal and insurance. Hence, I contacted various serious bicycle friends and shops and one name was continuously mentioned: Ken Knabe.
Ken Knabe is a known local bicycle accident lawyer as well as a bicycle advocate and twice published author on bicycle safety and rights.
We called Ken and he came to our home in Sagamore Hills from his office in Lakewood. Something he would do numerous times. Each step of the process-and it was a process-was explained in terms that I could understand the Why, When and How.
Ken helped my husband and me thoroughly document my injuries and resulting limitations and/or changes in my body. Things I never would have thought of. I’m grateful for his expertise and direction.
Never having had a lawyer before for any reason, hiring one was scary (almost everyone has a terrible lawyer story). That was not our case. Ken was personable from the get go with a genuine concern of my physical, mental and financial well being. “Being a member of Black Girls Do Bike, I had the opportunity to sit in on a seminar that the organization sponsored; where Ken Knabe was the featured speaker. Being a fellow cyclist, he educated the group on various laws as it pertains to our rights as cyclist sharing the road with motor vehicles. His knowledge and insight made a great impression on me.

Lucky for me, I was able to get the license plate number and I had Ken’s phone number on speed dial. Needless to say, it was a no brainer that I would retain him to represent me. His dedication to my case really paid off and I can’t express enough how much I appreciate it. The only thing I had to worry about was recovering from my injuries, Mr. Knabe took care of the rest.

“I was struck by a car while training on my bike and Attorney Ken Knabe was highly recommended from other cyclists. Ken came to my home while I was recovering, took my bike for damage assessment and handled all of that for no fee. He settled my bike and accessory damage and quickly settled a return on those damages. This took a lot of stress off me and my family as my wife was pregnant at the time. He then followed my course of treatment and offered sound advice along the way as to how my bills should be handled, documenting my pain and limitations, while also negotiating my bills with my health carrier. He was tough with the insurance agents to get full limits from the driver, and limits on my underinsured policy coverage. He would not settle for anything less than policy limits. We rejected several offers until they both paid the limits. He was firm on this result and was professional throughout this whole ordeal. He made multiple trips to my home to deliver paper work, and the final settlement! In fact, I never had to leave my home. I was very happy with his work, and my settlement. He is also an avid cyclist who could relate and understand my unfortunate situation.”
